In order for your R2 Pipeline to send SMS/text-messages and pre-recorded voicemails to your customers, we need to have a phone number associated with your account. You can get almost any area code you want (except for a few in-demand codes, those are really difficult to get). Once setup, the system will track virtually everything that gets sent to customers, as well as their reply texts, emails, and phone calls/voicemails.
